Sacred Agreements
In our circle, we create a sacred, supportive space where each Black woman can show up authentically, speak her truth, and connect deeply with her sisters. The Sacred Agreements listed below are the foundation for holding this container of trust, respect, and vulnerability. These agreements guide us in co-creating a BRAVE, inclusive, and spiritually enriching environment where every woman is honored, her journey is respected, and her voice is uplifted. By agreeing to these principles, you are committing to a collective energy of empowerment, healing, and sisterhood. Let these Sacred Agreements be a reminder that together, we rise. 🌿✨
- We are co-creating a BRAVE Circle.
We give ourselves permission to show up fully. We are here to be Bold, Responsible, Authentic, Vulnerable, and Empathetic (BRAVE), attributes learned from Sistership Circle. By joining, we agree to actively participate in the circle with our video on, if possible, to support the energy of presence. If you are unable to have your video on, we kindly ask that you watch the recording as it may impact a sister’s experience. - We honor confidentiality.
What is shared in this space stays in this space. We are committed to maintaining a sacred container where everyone feels safe to express themselves freely. Everything shared within the circle is held in strict confidence. This means no discussions of others’ experiences outside of the circle, whether in conversation or on social media. - We come to the circle open, with no expectations.
We each came here for a reason, so we are in trust of the magic that circle offers each one of us. Let go of preconceived notions of how things should be, and open your heart to the possibility of deep transformation and connection. - We honor and respect each woman’s unique spiritual journey.
This circle is a safe space for Black women of all spiritual paths to explore and share their experiences, regardless of differences in values and belief systems. Whether you identify as Christian, Catholic, Wiccan, Goddess, Hoodoo, Vodoun, or otherwise, every woman has the right to define her spiritual journey on her own terms. We respect, support, and honor that journey. - We do not give unsolicited feedback.
Instead of offering advice or commentary, we “beam” one another at the end of a share. To beam, hold both hands up with palms facing the woman who has shared. This honors and celebrates what she has expressed so she feels seen, heard, and valued. After you share, conclude with “I embrace my truth” and open your arms to receive the beam. Take a moment to notice how that feels in your body. - Question Prompt:
There will be a question prompt designed to help you reflect and connect more deeply with the theme of the circle. If attending online, you’ll receive the prompt in the chat during breakout sessions. - Use of the Timer:
A designated Sister will serve as the timekeeper. She will set a 3-minute timer for each person’s share, and ensure the bell is audible. If there is no designated timekeeper, a sister with circle experience may volunteer. - Everyone Shares:
At the Melanated Goddess Circle, everyone is invited to share. This creates unity, and equality, and allows you to experience the power of being witnessed with love and acceptance. We invite you to take up your full 3 minutes. If you choose not to, simply say “I embrace my truth,” and we will beam you in solidarity and support. Allow yourself to fully receive the beam with open hands, as an act of self-love and acceptance.
By adhering to these agreements, we co-create a nurturing and supportive space where we can all grow, heal, and connect authentically. Thank you for contributing to the sacred container of the Melanated Goddess Circle.
